The data are worrying. 40% of Spaniards believe that their mental health is not good. In addition, almost 60% feel fearful, worried, depressed or sad, and up to almost 15% have had suicidal ideas, according to the report 'Mental health in Spain'.

At DKV we believe that taking care of our mind is fundamental to achieve an optimal state of wellbeing. That is why you have clinical psychology sessions at your disposal in your policy.

What does DKV cover to take care of my mental health?

Clinical psychology consultations are covered on an outpatient basis and are carried out by specialists in psychology, either face-to-face or online. To rule out the possibility that the psychological discomfort is a symptom of a physical illness, it is essential that a psychiatrist from the "DKV Health Care Network" corresponding to your type of insurance policy carries out an assessment and, if necessary, prescribes the appropriate psychological treatment.

What disorders are treated by psychologists? (among others):

  • Anxiety.

  • Behavioral disorders, such as personality and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder.

  • Post-traumatic and acute post-traumatic stress disorders.

  • Sleep disorders such as insomnia.

  • Learning disorders resulting in school failure.

  • Sexual dysfunctions.

  • Eating disorders: anorexia and bulimia.

  • Depression.

  • Psychotic disorders.

  • Situations of school bullying, cyberbullying and gender or family violence.

  • Adjustment disorders: work-related stress, post-traumatic stress and bereavement.

The maximum limit is 20 sessions per insured person and calendar year, except for eating disorders, situations of school bullying, gender and/or family violence, cyberbullying and work stress, which will have an annual maximum limit of 40 sessions. In the event of requiring more sessions, DKV offers the possibility of continuing the sessions at a franchised price through the ‘Club de Salud’.

In addition, as of January 1, 2024, coverage will include

Psychotherapy for oncology patients (sessions prescribed by oncology specialists), with no prior need to attend a psychiatrist.

Nixi for Children: Virtual reality kit to reduce anxiety in pediatric patients before surgery.

How can I access the clinical psychology benefit?

You can access this coverage by paying a co-payment. To find out the amount of the co-payment, all you have to do is consult the "Table of groups of medical acts and co-payments" that you will find in the particular and/or special conditions of your policy through your client area.

Do I need authorization to access clinical psychology?

Yes, you will need to request the corresponding authorization to access this non-medical speciality in the DKV Health Care Network that corresponds to you according to the type of insurance contracted.
